I put in a pretty solid days work in Unreal Engine 5 for my animation project. I adjusted environment lighting, added the jaw animation synced to dialogue and finessed another animation or two.
The environment lighting adjustments were primarily to support story telling and secondarily to try to address some of the previous lighting blow out. I also tweaked some ray tracing settings in hopes of improving the fidelity of my next full pass render. Specifically, I bumped up the samples per pixel and light bounces for the main environment light assets (e.g. directional light, sky light, etc). I will also add some console variables to the movie render queue to push quality further.
Next tasks are to bake all the animation work into animation sequences so I can animate the eyes morph targets and add landscape elements. Then I think I should be ready for the next full render pass.
The screenshot below shows some toned down lighting brightness. The still image reads as a bit muddy but it plays pretty well visually when in motion. Onwards and upwards!
